On the Israeli - Palestinian Conflict

Okay, so the zero-state solution won't happen. Ever.

But what position should Christians take?

If we are dealing with two nation-states fighting over territory to the detriment of individuals on both sides, where should our allegiance lie?

Dispensationalists, per the previous thread, have eschatological reasons for favoring the nation-state of Israel, and for supporting nation-states in general. This perspective is ultimately manichean, and must be rejected.

While searching for historical consistency is to be highly regarded, when ethical consistency is sacrificed in order to make things work out right, we must reject these conclusions.

If we give ethics a higher priority, we must place individual sovereignty first and accept a principle of non-aggression. This disallows support for a state which imposes arbitrary standards on non-aggressive innocents. Instead we are guided by Christ’s example to minister to individuals with both the physical substances which meet their immediate needs, and with the gospel message which meets their eternal needs.

But there is no mandate for action through the state. If anyone can direct me to a passage which contradicts this point, I would be most grateful.

Instead we are called to renounce political manipulation as evil, and to operate on voluntary grounds alone.

Every perversion of the gospel involves a Gnostic adoption of pagan means for achieving monotheistic ends at some point. Let us not fall into that trap.

We must not support the state of Israel or the Palestinian state (or the United States Government for that matter.) We must support a limitation of all government for the sake of the liberty of all individuals. We must work to make our own laws more closely parallel natural law, and to eliminate privilege wherever it occurs, whether in the corporate sphere or on an individual level. We must encourage adoption of similar limitations on government among all peoples in all places. We must not allow our voices to be put to work for the purposes of those few who would have the state grow ever larger.

Having been in Israel and Palestine, I came to the conclusion that both sides have a right to declare that they are the rightful heirs of the land of Canan. Try going back to David and Goliath. David slew the Philistine by slinging a stone onto the Goliaths temple and knocking him out senseless and giving the opportunity to decapitate the giant. (hint… Palastine). What if David didn’t slay the Giant? Who then has claim to the land?
I don't see a clear solution to this quandary. I don’t deny that both sides have shed so much blood for their right to believe that it is their land and that of their progeny. That for centuries this ideology has been ingrained into the harts and minds of children who thus become the leaders of rebel Palestine or the Nation State of Israel. I do believe that Israel has a responsibility to evolve this constant fighting. And create a Business State for both Nations. This would allow both states to survive the ever changing global market. It is said that you should keep your friends close, but your enemies closest. By creating a Business state the Palestinian agenda to regain real-estate from Israel could be done Vis-à-vis Business transactions. I perceive that by an integral investment plan of building Palestine into a Nation for Business and creating an agreement of passage into sacred religious regions in Israel both sects can prosper. Arab real-estate firms or private Arab groups could finance the development of Palestine. By creating the democratization of real-estate, buyers and sellers can ideally own a peace of each state and help develop its future as a real-estate firm. Both Arabs and Israelites can buy shares of projects to further invest into outside investments to compete with surrounding markets.

You ideas about business are excellent. The need for a state to create such a climate is dubious.

I will concur that both people groups have rights to the land, but that neither state does. Actually, I hesitate to use the term rights. If it means that either group has the right to remove the other forcibly, I disagree.

If it means that both groups have the right to buy land under voluntary transactions and to have their property protected by the law, then I agree.

Again, the clear solution is to cut the power of the existing state.

Dubious or not, many nations around the world are built to provide land for their societies with the intent to remove other species and people from their lands. This is the status quo. I firmly believe that nation states should stay out of an individual’s right to life, liberty, and the pursuit to own property. Israel and Palestine will not agree to let free enterprise run the show in the redistribution of land thru buying and selling by private individuals or investment groups. For the sake of both nation states, there has to be a feeling of ownership by the two groups or else you have no one at the negotiating table signing any agreements or for that matter correspondence over the internet. Too much speculation has lead to an endless war. What both Nation states want is the idea of control and the liberty to say "We won", "We are finally free", and "God has provided this land for our people"! How can you compete with something god has decreed for ages to both his people? The Ishmaelite and the Israelites are one in the same. Just ask Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar; this was a business decision made by all three parties. Hagar may have been the servant of Sarah, but who isn’t a servant of anyone to this day? We need jobs to sustain our families. It’s called providing a service. Hagar had to make a choice. Either to be taken by force by Abraham and be considered only the vessel of his passion or be treated like a queen for baring the son of Abraham, heir to the house of the anointed people of God. It was a business agreement to sustain the seed of god’s people thru two points of measure. Sarah measured Hagar as being of good quality genes to continue the lineage. Mother Sarah and Mother Hagar, god bless both these beautiful women who gave birth two the most interesting of tribes in the world. As to the willingness of Nation States giving up land in order to sell to the highest bidder, it is possible, but only thru a faultless business model that will create a whirlwind effect to create a business state.
